Scott Downs
One of the bright stars in a long line of former University of Kentucky pitchers, including Brandon Webb and Joe Blanton, Scott
had another phenomenal year with the Toronto Blue Jays. Despite the fact that Downs played the last month of the ’08 season with a bad ankle,
he still managed to post a 1.78 E.R.A. As late as September 8th (and prior to injury), he had a microscopic 1.19 E.R.A! Scott pitched in 81 games
for the Jays in 2007 and finished that season with a 2.17 E.R.A. This past season he pitched in 66 games and held opponents to a .213 batting
average.
